Put on your cross-country skis or snowshoes and head out right from the guest house. You can hike alone or with an instructor to discover the myriad paths that lead through Alpine forests and clearings. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and scent of pines as you glide across a magical, snowy landscape. If you’re lucky, you might spot foxes, Alpine mountain goats called chamois, or a splendid Capercaillie, an endangered European game bird.
Bring a picnic prepared by Christiane : goose liver pâté with juniper berries, Morteau sausage, mountain ham, comté or morbier cheese... Or maybe you’d rather stop at a local inn to sample a fondue or a regional specialty : mushroom pie.
